Liverpool fans are delighted with photos of Virgil van Dijk in training

A number of Liverpool fans are ecstatic with the latest photos of Virgil van Dijk that have emerged, with the Dutchman seen back on the training pitch.

The 29-year-old has been a monumental loss for the Reds this season, having suffered cruciate ligament damage back in October.

Call it an over-exaggeration, but his injury felt like a season-defining moment at the time, and is proving to be the case currently.

While Liverpool have been hampered by endless fitness problems, Van Dijk is the man they miss comfortably more than anyone.

The Dutchman’s return does seem to be edging closer all the time, however, and on Wednesday, the club shared images of him on the pitch at Kirkby.

Van Dijk is still a fair way away from playing for Liverpool again, but it is undoubtedly another step in the right direction.

These Reds fans took to Twitter to reveal their delight at the centre-back’s progress.
