Virals: Liverpool target Franck Kessie could complete January transfer

Liverpool have once again been linked with a move for AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie.

The Reds were extensively tipped to make a move for the 24-year-old during the summer in order to replace Gini Wijnaldum.

However, any such move failed to materialise as Jurgen Klopp opted against seeking a successor to the Dutchman in the transfer market.

Now a fresh report from Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, as cited by Football Italia on Twitter, has claimed that Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain are frontrunners for a possible January capture.

The report states that the Serie A giants are set to make an improved offer to keep Kessie beyond a 2022 contract expiry, albeit the Liverpool ‘candidacy’ remains in place.

Meanwhile, Corriere dello Sport hs claimed that both clubs are ‘on the trail’ of the 48 times capped ace and a winter switch could be the resolution.

This season Kessie has earned a 7.08 average Sofascore rating from four league outings.

Failure to sign an additional midfielder this summer has never looked more questionable than right at this moment.

Albeit star youngster Curtis Jones has stepped up with aplomb, recent injures to Thiago, Naby Keita and Harvey Elliott have left the Reds thin on the ground.

Having already lost Gianluigi Donnarumma to Paris and with Wijnaldum in situ in the French capital, Liverpool should be considered favourites in the race.

Valued at £49.5million (Transfermarkt), signing Kessie for a bargain fee or indeed nothing next summer is a no-brainer for the Anfield club.

matchday.
