Alisson believes Liverpool lost confidence in West Ham draw

Alisson believes Liverpool lost confidence during their 1-1 draw against West Ham United on Monday night.

As quoted by The Mirror, the Brazilian international discussed his side’s shortcomings in the match at the London Stadium as Manuel Pellegrini’s men held them to a draw.

Liverpool remain three points clear at the top of the Premier League table but came away from Monday’s fixture disappointed after failing to win for the second consecutive match.

Alisson attempted to put his finger on why the Reds struggled to overcome the Hammers and highlighted the side’s increasing lack of confidence as a fundamental reason.

The former AS Roma star said:

I believe we had glimpses into the game. Some moments of insecurity. We started ahead. [But] from the moment we started to miss some passes – some silly passes that we are not used to missing – I think the team lost a little confidence in the match. I think the opposing team also gained confidence.

Liverpool took the lead after a sustained period of pressure as Sadio Mane converted James Milner’s cross. Shortly after, though, Michail Antonio levelled proceedings for the hosts.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will be determined to put the draw behind them as they look ahead to Saturday’s home clash against Bournemouth.
