Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson revealed that playing against Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is a ‘dream’ to him.
Speaking ahead of the Reds’ clash against the Bavarian club on Wednesday night, the Brazilian discussed the comparisons that have been made between himself and the German international.
Alisson was quick to rebuff claims that he is of a similar quality to Neuer and proceeded to hail his goalkeeping counterpart.
As quoted by The Liverpool Echo, the former Roma star said:
I cannot compare myself to Neuer. He’s been one of the best in the last 10 years and I am just starting. I use him as a reference, and he’s a great person as well. It’s a dream to play against him.
Liverpool will be determined to get the better of Bayern on Wednesday night as they bid to progress through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
In the first leg of their round of 16 fixture, they could only manage a 0-0 draw at Anfield, with both Alisson and Neuer keeping clean sheets for their teams.
The goalkeepers will need to be on top form as they look to contribute to positive outcomes for their sides at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.
