Liverpool’s summer signing Alisson has revealed the measures that Jurgen Klopp went to in order to beat Chelsea to his signature.
Speaking about his move to Anfield to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Brazilian explains how he spoke with Klopp before deciding on his move to the Premier League.
When the clubs got together [to discuss the transfer], Klopp gave me a call on FaceTime and explained his project and what we would do together. I have admired him since the days of Dortmund.
I like being trained by him, because he does not talk a lot but he always knows what to say and how to do it. He is an intelligent man of character.
Both Chelsea and Liverpool were heavily linked with a move to sign Alisson and it appeared at one stage that he would be heading to Stamford Bridge.
However, the Reds pulled out all the stops to ensure that it was Anfield where Alisson would be playing his football this season.
He would go on to join Liverpool in a deal worth a reported £67 million after a standout season for Roma in Serie A.
Since joining the club he has been ever present between the sticks, missing just the one game this season against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup last week.
