Alisson snubbed Real move to secure first-team assurances at Liverpool

Alisson reportedly rejected advances from Real Madrid to secure a switch to Liverpool based on first-team assurances from the Premier League club.

Following an exceptional season at Roma, the Brazilian international was being courted by a number of prestigious clubs across Europe, including Real and Chelsea.

However, Jurgen Klopp was able to secure a deal for his top target last week as the Reds completed a world-record deal for a goalkeeper by signing Alisson.

The 25-year-old penned a long-term contract at Anfield, with the transfer fee paid by the Reds believed to be worth in the region of £66 million.

Alisson was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid throughout the summer but he opted to seal a switch to Liverpool. According to Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte, this was largely due to his uncertainty that Real would be able to guarantee him a starting place in Julen Lopetegui’s line-up.

Los Blancos already have Keylor Navas at their disposal and it seems, with Loris Karius’ future at Liverpool looking bleak, Alisson felt as though he would be able to slot straight in with the Reds, rather than battle for the number one shirt at the Bernabeu.
