Talking to the club’s website, Xabi Alonso believes his former Liverpool team-mate Steven Gerrard has all the attributes to become the Reds’ first-team manager in the future, Sky Sports report.
The pair enjoyed huge success when partnering each other in midfield for the Reds between 2004-2009, with both scoring in the famous Champions League final at Istanbul in 2005.
Alonso, who has recently retired from playing after helping Bayern Munich to three straight Bundesliga titles, has admitted to following Gerrard’s coaching career closely and has heaped praise on his former teammate.”I’m following the early steps of his career closely and for sure he has all the attributes to become a big manager and a Liverpool manager one day.

After retiring from playing last season, Gerrard began his coaching career at Liverpool’s academy in February and has this season taken charge of the Under-18s on a full-time basis.
The Liverpool legend is also taking on the role of managing the Under-19s in the UEFA Youth League, as he looks to a career in coaching with his boyhood club.
