Andoni Iraola salutes Liverpool player’s ‘masterclass’ in 2-0 Ipswich win

Liverpool recorded a comfortable 2-0 win against Ipswich Town to get their Premier League campaign up and running after successive draws.

Andoni Iraola‘s side produced a spirited showing at Portman Road and took the game away from the home side in three first-half minutes courtesy of a brace from Alexander Isak.

The Reds also recorded their first clean sheet of the new Premier League season, which was another step in the right direction under their new manager.

And the Spaniard was particularly impressed with Virgil van Dijk, who once again led the backline with aplomb.

Speaking after the game, Iraola claimed Van Dijk’s ‘masterclass’ at the back helped Jeremy Jacquet last 90 minutes for the first time in his Liverpool career.

“For every centre-back to play next to Van Dijk, it’s a masterclass,” said the Spaniard via the BBC.

“First two games, he [Jacquet] couldn’t finish them. In the second half, I was in doubt – he had to experience these moments and will keep building this fitness.”

Ronald Araujo also impressed in his first start for the club and he defended bravely and produced an error-free performance at right-back.

Happy days…
