Bayern boss Kovac expecting goals in Liverpool clash

Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovac believes there will be goals in his side’s Champions League fixture against Liverpool on Tuesday night.

The Croatian manager spoke to the media ahead of the first leg of the round of 16 clashes this week and admitted that he couldn’t see the outcome of the match being 0-0.

As reported by ESPN’s Glenn Price on Twitter, Kovac said:

I don’t think we’ll see 0-0 tomorrow. I can’t see that.

Bayern have struggled for consistency this season and have leaked goals throughout, conceding 26 in the Bundesliga so far.

Their shortcomings at the back are well documented, and Liverpool will be determined to exploit this when the two sides come up against each other on Tuesday night.

On the front-foot, however, Bayern have looked strong and will be desperate to take advantage of the Reds’ defensive injury woes.

Virgil van Dijk is suspended, Joe Gomez is injured, and Dejan Lovren is a doubt after missing Monday’s training session at Melwood ahead of the match.
