Ben Davies could be an injury doubt for Tottenham’s clash with Liverpool

Tottenham could be without Ben Davies for their crucial Premier League clash with Liverpool, with Jose Mourinho hinting as much.

The Reds head to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday night, as they desperately look to get back to winning ways, following five games without a victory in the competition.

Davies was withdrawn in stoppage time in Spurs’ 4-1 FA Cup win at Wycombe Wanderers on Monday, and speaking after the game [via HITC], Mourinho admitted there is concern about his fitness:

I didn’t see huge fatigue. Ben Davies was just a bad feeling, I hope it is not anything on his calf, so hopefully we managed to play and not have big injuries or fatigue and not to have extra time.

While Davies may not be one of his side’s most important players, his potential absence could still be a boost for Liverpool.

The Welshman started in his side’s 2-1 defeat at Anfield last month and he could arguably be a better defensive option than Sergio Reguilon at left-back, despite the latter’s attacking quality.

Mohamed Salah has played himself back into form with two goals at Manchester United on Sunday, so his tussle with either Davies or Reguilon could be one of the key battles on Thursday.
