Benfica considering Alberto Moreno move

Portuguese giants Benfica are considering making a move for Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno.

According to Lisbon based publication A Bola, cited by the Daily Mail, Benfica are lining up a move for the out of favour Reds left-back to replace Alex Grimaldo, who is being monitored by both Manchester City and Arsenal.

The Spaniard has spent five years at Anfield after joining from Sevilla, however, the 26-year-old will leave Merseyside in the summer after not being offered a new deal.

Moreno, who has made 90 Premier League appearances for the Reds, has even been linked with a shock move to Barcelona in recent months.

Moreno looks to have played his final game in a Liverpool shirt, and unfortunately for him, it wasn’t one to remember, with the Spaniard last starting in the 2-1 defeat to Wolves in the FA Cup back in January.

Current first choice left back Andrew Robertson has featured in all but two of the Reds 37 league games to date, and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp may look to replace Moreno with a younger alternative.
