Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has revealed the conversation he had with Xherdan Shaqiri ahead of the Merseyside derby this weekend.
As reported by the Liverpool Echo, Carragher revealed to the All Together Now Everton podcast that he told Liverpool’s summer signing all about the importance of the game.
I pulled Shaqiri on the way out in the mixed zone in Paris. He came over and said: ‘Hello.’ I said to him: ‘It’s the derby on Sunday and you have to win, you have to win.’ He said: ‘I know.’

Shaqiri is set to feature in what is his first Merseyside derby after arriving from Stoke over the summer.
The Reds come into the game off the back of a disappointing defeat against Pairs Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
With fixtures coming thick and fast for the Reds, some believe the summer signing could be in line to start against Marco Silva’s side.
Jurgen Klopp will be keen to get his side back on track at Anfield, with Everton heading into the game in decent form.
The Toffees have lost just once in their last seven Premier League outings.
