Federico Chiesa’s situation at Liverpool has not changed. The talk around it, though, has not stopped. This update brings the Chiesa Liverpool exit story up to date, as cited by BBC Sport’s latest transfer roundup.
According to Calciomercato, via BBC Sport, Chiesa is on the radar of Inter Milan, Lazio and Atalanta. The forward is ready to leave Liverpool in January, the same report claims. None of it is confirmed by Liverpool or the three Italian clubs. It fits the picture in our squad exodus update, written once Liverpool’s position became clearer.
Transfer links across the Premier league
Elsewhere in the same BBC Sport roundup, Tottenham and Liverpool are both watching Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma, originally reported by TeamTalk. He is out of contract next summer. That explains why two Premier League clubs have taken note already.
Arsenal have the finances to sign Erling Haaland from Manchester City, TeamTalk reports, via BBC Sport. The same outlet believes Barcelona are more likely than Arsenal to land him, should he ever leave the Etihad.
Barcelona’s Dani Olmo does not want to leave the club, despite interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Saudi Pro League sides, according to CaughtOffside, via BBC Sport. Juventus remain keen on Brentford right-back Michael Kayode, say Gazzetta dello Sport, via BBC Sport.
Mexico midfielder Gilberto Mora would prefer Real Madrid or Barcelona to Liverpool if he leaves Club Tijuana next year, according to Football Insider, via BBC Sport. Barcelona are also watching Germany Under-21 striker Nicolo Tresoldi, Sport reports, via BBC Sport.
Who is Federico Chiesa linked with?
Chiesa is linked with three Serie A sides: Inter Milan, Lazio and Atalanta. Calciomercato’s report, carried by BBC Sport, says all three are keeping tabs on him and that he is ready to leave Liverpool in January.
That is as far as the Chiesa Liverpool link goes for now. There is no word on a fee, a formal approach, or which club is leading the chase. He featured for Liverpool on the pre-season tour of the United States, as our Nashville report covered at the time. Within weeks, the picture had turned to talk of a January exit instead.
We set out our transfer view on his situation earlier in the window, before this latest report emerged.
What happens next
This remains a story to monitor, not one with an answer yet. BBC Sport’s sources point to Inter Milan, Lazio and Atalanta as the interested clubs. None has made an official move and activity is expected when the transfer window opens.
The January window does not open for another three months. There is time yet for the picture to change. Liverpool’s other transfer interest, including the reported Kaoru Mitoma situation at Brighton, will likely develop alongside it. On the pitch, attention stays on results such as the Bournemouth win, with the Chiesa talk running in parallel for now.
