Pep Guardiola has revealed that Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero is a major doubt for Sunday’s trip to Anfield.
As reported by the Liverpool Echo, Aguero has been struggling to shake off a foot injury that was sustained back at the start of September against Newcastle.
The Argentinian striker, who scored during their 2-0 win over Brighton at the weekend, has been forced to play through the pain ever since.
Sergio is struggling a bit with some problems in his foot. He’s not 100 per cent. He’s not recovered from what happened against Newcastle. We spoke about playing 55-60 minutes and we were lucky that he scored a goal in the right moment.
The two sides meet at Anfield on Sunday afternoon in what could be the biggest game of the season so far.
City moved level on points with Liverpool after their win over Brighton, which saw them move to the top of the Premier League.
The champions currently lead the way on goal difference and Sunday’s game is likely to play a big role in this season’s title race.
