Dortmund chief hints at Bayern move for Liverpool target Werner

Borussia Dortmund’s Hans-Joachim Watzke has dropped a major hint that Liverpool target Timo Werner could be on his way to Bayern Munich.

Liverpool, along with both Dortmund and Bayern have been heavily linked with a move to Werner, who looks set to leave RB Leipzig in the near future.

When quizzed on the striker’s future and a possible bid from Dortmund, Watzke gave a cryptic answer, as reported by Goal’s Ronan Murphy:

I know at least eighty players who would suit us well, but at least I have the impression that one of the two players has already settled his future- and not with us.

The German striker is yet to commit to a new contract with the Bundesliga outfit and has been told that he will be sold if he does not put pen to paper.

Werner will not be short of suitors after establishing himself as one of the top strikers in Germany in recent years.

Bayern are particularly keen as they go in search of a long-term replacement for the ageing Robert Lewandowski.

They have agreed a deal to sign Benjamin Pavard and are looking to secure the services of Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi in a £35 million deal.

With the addition of Werner, Bayern would be going some way to adding some fresh legs to their squad.
