Liverpool fell to a 3-2 defeat against Monaco at Anfield yesterday and would welcome a distraction to forget their second-half display.
And it appears as if they could get one in the form of a transfer boost as Ronald Araujo’s loan move from Barcelona has edged closer.
The Uruguayan has agreed to sign on a season-long loan deal, with the Reds retaining an option to buy.
Yesterday, Araujo arrived in Merseyside to complete his medical and thrash out terms.
And now Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that everything is done, with an official announcement expected shortly.
Liverpool to announce Ronald Araujo signing
Araujo’s agent Edoardo Crnjar was spotted at Anfield yesterday with Richard Hughes, which sort of proved that his signing was done and dusted.
This morning, however, Romano confirmed that all documents have been signed and an official announcement is expected to follow.
“Liverpool and Barcelona have exchanged all documents for the Ronald Araujo deal,” wrote Romano on X.
“Everything signed as Araujo will soon be unveiled as new #LFC defender. Exclusive story, confirmed.”
Liverpool take on Como next week and Araujo will have a few days to get to grips with his new surroundings.
He has already been training with Barcelona, so he should be able to get a few minutes against the Serie A side.
