Over the past two days, Ronald Araujo’s name has dominated the headlines for Liverpool.
The Reds agreed a surprise loan deal for his signature, with the Uruguayan seen as a player who can cover multiple positions at the back.
Araujo is currently in Merseyside to complete his medical and sign his contract and will officially be announced as a Liverpool player shortly.
And now, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has sent a parting message to his former captain.
Hansi Flick confirms Ronald Araujo’s Liverpool move
As relayed by Paul Gorst on X, the Barcelona boss said: “I saw him this morning, and I said goodbye and I think he was very happy and Liverpool is also a fantastic club.
“I wish him all the best because he deserves it. He’s a fantastic guy and a fantastic player and was a great captain.”
A touch of class from Flick as Araujo aims to formalise his move to Anfield this week.
It goes without saying that he’s an experienced defender, but the past 18 months have been rough for Araujo from a personal and professional standpoint.
And who knows, maybe a change of scenery is what he needs to get his career back on track.
