Gotze urged to join Fulham over Liverpool

German international Mario Gotze has been urged not to join Liverpool and move to a team like Fulham instead.

Reports in Germany claim that the player is likely to be on the move in the new year after falling out of favour at Borussia Dortmund.

Gotze appears to no longer be in Lucian Favre’s plans but is being urged to pick his next move carefully in order to get his stalling career back on track.

Liverpool have been among the teams to be linked with a move for Gotze, with his Dortmund future in doubt, despite Jurgen Klopp playing down his interest in a deal.

Once dubbed the German Messi, and the next best thing to come out of the Bundesliga, Gotze has seen his career take a turn following injuries and illnesses that have kept him sidelined.

Sport1 list three clubs as possible destinations for Gotze; Fulham, Espanyol and Italian side Genoa.

However, there are concerns that the player’s wages could halt a deal, with Gotze believed to be earning in the region of €7 million a year.

It is yet to be seen whether there is interest from the named clubs, or whether the German outlet just believes that this is the level Gotze should be aiming for in order to play regularly.

Fulham do already have Andre Schurrle on loan from Borussia Dortmund, so they may be forced into a permanent deal if they wanted to sign the World Cup winner.
