Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has admitted that he believes Liverpool are currently the best team in Europe.
As reported on the Telegraph, the Reds currently hold a seven-point lead over third-placed City in the Premier League.
Guardiola’s side struggled against Liverpool last season and lost to them three times, once in the league and twice in the Champions League.
When speaking about Thursday night’s crucial encounter, Guardiola said:
They are in the moment the best team in Europe, in the consistency, the way they control the details in their game. We are going to focus on what we have to do to win the game. Everyone is talking if we lose, but we can win.
Liverpool are yet to lose a league match this season and drew 0-0 at Anfield earlier on in the campaign, with City forward Riyad Mahrez blazing a late penalty over the bar.
City’s defence has been leaky in recent weeks, whilst Liverpool’s attack has been ruthless so expect to see a pulsating match at the Etihad Stadium.
