Former Liverpool midfielder Paul Ince has been discussing why the current squad has what it takes to secure Premier League glory this season.
The Reds have been on a tremendous run of early-season form in the opening months of the campaign. They have won their first six Premier League matches and defeated PSG 3-2 in their first Champions League group stage game.
Ince, as quoted by the Irish Independent, was quizzed about Liverpool’s chances of going on to win the Premier League this term and spoke optimistically.
It’s not all about three or four nil wins, sometimes it’s those tough, hard to grind out results. That’s how you know you’re seeing a title-winning side. Titles are won when you don’t necessarily play well – but still come out with three points. That’s like the teams I played in when I was at Manchester United.
The Reds are currently level on points with Chelsea at the very top of the Premier League table. They do, however, trail the Blues on goal difference.
Nevertheless, Liverpool will be in a more than confident mood ahead of the remainder of the season, having made such a strong start to proceedings.
Jurgen Klopp’s side’s next test comes in a home fixture against Southampton.
Liverpool fans are right to be excited. There are a lot of positive signs coming out of the club at the minute. For the first time in a long time, people you speak to are fancying them to win the title.
I can’t see anyone coming close to them and Man City to be honest. The signs look great for trophies, the best they’ve looked in years, and fans should be feeling very hopeful.
