Joel Matip could be about to make a return to the Cameroon national side following talks with the country’s officials.
The Liverpool Echo report that Matip is been holding discussions with both Clarence Seedorf and Patrick Kluivert, the country’s management team about the prospect of making a return.
Matip caused controversy when he rejected a call-up to the African Cup of Nations back in 2017.

The Reds defender wanted to focus on his club career but was then forced to miss two games after the Cameroon FA made the case for the player not to be involved for Liverpool while the tournament took place, despite not joining up with the squad.
Should Matip make a return to the Cameroon national side, he would be in contention to feature at the 2019 African Cup of Nations, which takes place in March.
It would leave Klopp with a selection headache, with the German already short of options at the back after letting Ragnar Klavan leave in the summer.
