Jurgen Klopp says his team might pull out of the Carabao Cup at the quarter-final stage if the EFL can’t find the Reds a suitable date to play their fixture.
The Carabao Cup quarter-final games are scheduled to take place on the week commencing Monday 16th December, but Liverpool won’t even be in the country as they are scheduled to play in the World Club Cup in Qatar that week.
Furthermore, the Reds have midweek games pretty much every week between now and Christmas thanks to their Premier League and Champions League commitments.
Speaking after Liverpool beat the Gunners on penalties after an incredible 5-5 draw with Arsenal at Anfield, Klopp said the Reds will have to pull out of the Carabao Cup if the authorities can’t find a suitable date for the quarter-final game to be played.
He said:
If they can’t find the proper date for us – and I don’t mean 3am on Christmas Day – then we can’t play the game and we don’t go through.

The fixture list is an issue throughout the winter as the Reds have plenty of games to play, especially with the World Club Cup right in the middle of December. It’s hard to see Liverpool pulling out of the competition but it will be interesting to see where the authorities schedule the game.
