Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he was unsure about how to console Loris Karius following his mistakes in the Champions League final last season.
It’s likely that the German goalkeeper will make a two-year loan switch to Besiktas in the near future after Liverpool took the decision to land Alisson from Roma for a then world-record fee.
Karius had established himself as the Reds’ first-choice goalkeeper in the second half of last season but effectively saw his career at Anfield ended when he made two catastrophic errors in Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

Klopp recently discussed Karius’ situation at Liverpool with German news outlet Sport1 and admitted that although he wanted to ease the goalkeeper’s concerns, he didn’t have the right words to say to him.
I am a strong supporter of the idea of just shutting up if you don’t have the right words. And other than a few comforting words I did not have the right words. I did not have a clue what you could say.
Neither was I angry at him nor was I disappointed in him or something else. I only saw his situation, and everyone would love to have the right words.
I didn’t have them. And that’s why we left it at it that evening but for a few words. By now, I [have] talked to him, not only about this. The situation is clear and everything is good.
Liverpool are set to allow Karius the chance to rehabilitate himself elsewhere, with Simon Mignolet now in line to be Alisson’s deputy for the season.
