Adam Lallana has seen his place in the England squad thrown into doubt as Gareth Southgate raises concerns over the player’s fitness.
The Mirror reports that Lallana has been unable to complete full training sessions while away on international duty with the England squad.
Southgate is said to be worried about the idea of taking the player to this summer’s World Cup in Russia.
Thigh and groin injuries have seen Lallana struggle for regular minutes in the Premier League this season.
The midfielder is likely to feature against Italy on Tuesday night in a last-ditch attempt to prove his worth to Southgate.
Lallana remains a key part of Southgate’s plans for England and is a player that he rates very highly, but he is wary of taking the player following his fitness record throughout the current campaign.
With Southgate due to name his squad before England’s last two warm-up friendlies in the beginning of June, Lallana will be keen to impress before the season is out.
