Lampard insists Liverpool will see a “very good” Wilson return

Derby County manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that Harry Wilson will not be recalled by Liverpool in January, insisting that the winger will return to Anfield a better player for his loan move.

Lampard, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo, was quizzed on Wilson’s situation at Derby, amid claims that the Reds could recall him in January.

The former Chelsea legend was quick to dispel these claims, however, confirming that Wilson will remain at Pride Park for the duration of the ongoing season.

He’s our player for the year. He’s a Liverpool player for the future. I’ve answered this with Mason Mount before. We are looking after them for a year and hopefully improving them.

Liverpool fans shouldn’t worry because hopefully, we’ll give them a very good Harry Wilson when he goes back.

Wilson has been in impressive form for Derby in the Championship this season and has also shone on the international stage. The winger netted a free-kick to help Wales defeat the Republic of Ireland 1-0 in the UEFA Nations League earlier this week, too.

Harry will have a spring in his step; he should do. It was another great free-kick. I thought he played very well in the second half in particular. And that’s what Harry can do. Hopefully, he can do that for us more.

The 21-year-old is believed to be held in high esteem at Liverpool, with the club regarding the player as a part of their future plans.
