Lazar Markovic could join Spartak Moscow

Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic, who hasn’t been seen in a Reds shirt since 2015, may well be leaving Anfield for Russian champions Spartak Moscow, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Markovic, 23, joined Liverpool from Benfica in 2014 for a fee worth £20 million, however, has failed to make an impact on Merseyside.

The Serbian winger has been out on loan at Fenerbahce, Sporting Lisbon and Hull City over the past few seasons, but has failed to impress Reds boss Jurgen Klopp during that time, with Klopp making the winger surplus to requirements.

Liverpool value the winger at £16 million, with Spartak Moscow willing to meet the Reds’ demands for the player, and hope to wrap the deal up by the end of the current window.

Markovic’s current Reds deal ends in the summer of 2019, however, it looks extremely unlikely the player will still be at Anfield in 18 months time.
