Liverpool have had a €28million (£24.7million) bid for midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic rejected by Lazio, according to a report in Corriere dello Sport.
Milinkovic-Savic, 22, has impressed during the Serie A season, scoring three times and registering seven assists and could be an alternative target to Naby Keita who is also on Jurgen Klopp’s shortlist.
However, with Keita showing no interest in leaving German side Red Bull Leipzig, or with them looking like they’ll do everything they can to keep him, attention seems to have turned towards the Lazio man.
A position where Klopp looks desperate to strengthen in this summer window is in the engine room and the young midfielder can play in an advanced position or a more deep lying midfield role and the German manager is always keen to being in versatile players.
Liverpool have reportedly been following the Serbia Under-21 international’s progress in Serie A for a number of months, and are willing to offer the midfielder a five-year deal at Anfield according to a number of reports.
Lazio apparently put a crazy valuation of around €70million (£61.8million) on the player to warn off any apparent bidders so it seems like they are keen to keep him.
Time will tell if Liverpool are able to get their man, if the story is correct that they want him.
