A number of Liverpool fans have been showing their love for Gini Wijnaldum, following his touching tribute to Virgil van Dijk.
It has been a tough period for the Reds, with a host injuries threatening to derail their Premier League title defence in 2020/21.
Van Dijk’s injury has undoubtedly had the biggest impact, however, with the centre-back one of the best players in the world currently.
The 29-year-old is likely to miss the rest of the season with cruciate ligament damage, as Liverpool have to make do without a colossus presence.
It is clear that Van Dijk hasn’t been forgotten, however, as Wijnaldum proved on Sunday.
The Reds midfielder captained the Netherlands at home to Bosnia, in their UEFA Nations League clash, and was a star performer for his country.
Wijnaldum scored both of his team’s opening two goals, as his relentless goalscoring form at international level continues.
After one of his strikes, the 30-year-old peeled away and replicated Van Dijk’s celebration, acting as a nice tribute to his friend and colleague.
It was a moment that again sums up the closeness and team spirit within this Liverpool squad.
These Reds supporters took to Twitter to show their appreciation for Wijnaldum’s gesture.
