Liverpool fans react to disappointing James Pearce tweet

Liverpool fans have voiced their displeasure as reliable Reds journalist James Pearce of The Athletic has dampened the hyperbole around what was billed as the imminent arrival of Lille defender Sven Botman.

Reports had emerged linking the Premier League champions with the much-needed central defender and Kopites had already begun piecing clues together; culminating in the belief Botman’s unveiling was a mere formality. 

However, on Sunday afternoon Pearce poured unwanted cold water on the speculation when he said Liverpool are ‘not considering a move’ for the 20-year-old centre-half. 

The reputable reporter went on to state his belief that someone was trying to increase the Dutchman’s price tag by linking him with a move to Merseyside.
