Liverpool invited to play Celtic in summer friendly

Liverpool are in talks with Celtic about the Reds travelling up to Glasgow to face the reigning Scottish champions in a testimonial for captain Scott Brown, according to The Daily Record.

Brown is in his tenth season at the Hoops after signing from Hibernian back in 2007. It is believed that a date is being arranged between the two clubs, with the game set to take place in either late July or early August.

The 32-year-old has made 463 appearances for the Hoops, netting 37 times and winning 14 of his 15 major honours at Celtic Park.

In his tenth season playing in the famous Green and White, he is likely to secure his eighth league title.

Brown also has the proud personal honours of holding Celtic’s record of most European appearances as well as the club’s most decorated captain.

The game, if it goes ahead, will also give Brendan Rodgers a chance to face his former empolyers for the first time since he was sacked in October 2015.
