Liverpool join race for Swiss teenager Joel Ribeiro

Liverpool have joined the race for teenage attacking midfielder Joel Ribeiro, according to calciomercato.com, relayed in an article by Sport Witness. 

The 16-year-old is also being monitored by three Italian teams ahead of a possible summer switch. 

Inter Milan, Torino and Atalanta are all thought to be keeping tabs on Ribeiro, who doesn’t have a professional contract with his current club Lausanne. 

The teenager has made national appearances for Switzerland at Under 15 and 16 levels in recent years and is considered to be a star of the future. 

The report suggests that Inter Milan are the club who have made their interest known to the player the most, however, the Reds are also emerging as strong competitors for Ribiero’s signature. 

With Ribiero not looking for first-team football at this stage of his career, Liverpool could well land the player over the summer and place the Swiss midfielder in the academy at Melwood.
