Liverpool are pursuing a deal for Sunderland youngster Luca Stephenson, according to a report from the ECHO.
The Reds are believed to have set their sights on a transfer involving the promising young midfielder, who is currently held in rather high esteem at his current club, Sunderland.
Stephenson, who is just 15-years-old, has emerged as a player who Liverpool reportedly view as an exciting prospect for the future, with the Premier League table-toppers keen to integrate him into Barry Lewtas’ Under-18 ranks.
Liverpool will be forced to pay Sunderland a fee worth around £200,000 for the acquisition of Stephenson, according to the ECHO’s report, with the Black Cats regarding him as one of their prized young assets.
The Reds have been active in recruiting young talent from elsewhere in recent transfer windows and are evidently intent on continuing this trend, with a deal lined up to lure Stephenson away from the ranks of League One outfit Sunderland.
