Liverpool keeping tabs on Conor Coady

Premier League leaders Liverpool are keeping a close eye on the development of Wolves centre back Conor Coady, according to a report on the Mirror.

Coady left Liverpool in 2014 after only making two senior appearances for the club after graduating through their academy system.

Coady has excelled in a back three and has shown that he can cope with some of Europe’s finest attacking players.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly monitoring Coady, who has two years remaining on his current deal with Wolves.

Klopp currently has a crisis in defence with the only 100% fit centre back at his disposal being Virgil Van Dijk. Defensive midfielder Fabinho was forced to play in the back four in the 1-0 victory over Brighton.

However, Wolves are eager to hand Coady a contract extension to fend off interest from the big clubs and they hope that the skipper will commit his long-term future to the club.

Arsenal are also said to be keen to take Coady to the Emirates Stadium as Unai Emery is looking to bolster his defence.
