Liverpool FC have had plans to hold non-football sporting events at Anfield outside of football REFUSED by councillors.
The plans to hold other events, such as music concerts, have not yet been refused but a decision on those has been deferred to another meeting.
The plans submitted by the club were subject to staunch criticism from fans, who felt they weren’t getting anything back as local residents.
Other concerns included noise around the stadium, which people surrounding the ground felt would be present on a more consistent basis, rather than just being exclusive to the football season.
Another major concern was parking in the area.
Nicola Cotter lives in Anfield and objects to the plans by LFC. She says the matchday traffic and volume of people already affects her family. “End of May, mid August is the only respite we have, I don’t want that taken away from us”

Liverpool consulted locals and distributed 1100 newsletters to gauge feedback for the proposed plans. They believed, given the recent Main Stand expansion, that assurances on noise and traffic management could be enough to reassure nearby residents.
But that hasn’t been the case, with the plans refused. The club will have to wait for a response regarding more general concerts being held at the ground.
