A young Liverpool footballer has been charged with two counts of assault after an altercation outside a nightclub in Cheltenham, the Daily Mirror has reported.
Lloyd Jones, 21, was arrested in the early hours of Sunday, March 12th, after the altercation in Cheltenham.
A Gloucestershire Police spokesman told a Devon media company:
A 21-year-old man has been charged with two counts of assault following an incident at a night club in Cheltenham.
Devon born Jones was arrested just hours after Swindon Town, where he was on loan, lost 3-2 to Port Vale four months ago. He has recently been granted bail, and is due to appear at Cheltenham magistrates on July 27th.
Defender Jones signed from Plymouth Argyle back in 2011 for a fee in the region of £150,000, and has recently signed a new contract to stay at Anfield.
As mentioned previously, he spent last season on loan with Swindon Town.
