Lovren could return in time for Palace clash

Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren could be back in the Liverpool squad to face Crystal Palace, according to the Mirror.

The Croatian defender has been ruled out of this weekend’s game against Brighton after suffering a hamstring injury against Wolves.

Lovren signalled to the Liverpool bench in the very early stages of the FA Cup game and was forced off inside the opening 10 minutes.

The defender’s absence has piled the pressure on Liverpool’s defence, but he could be back in time to face Palace the following week.

A swift return for Lovren will come as a major boost for Liverpool, who have seen their injury problems mount up in recent weeks.

The blessing in disguise that came from Lovren’s injury was the emergence of Ki-Jana Hoever.

The 16-year-old defender came off the bench against Wolves and stole the headlines with an impressive performance, despite the result.
