Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet reveals that he believes he was right to bring down Stoke forward Mame Biram Diouf on the edge of the area to prevent him from scoring, according to a report on Sky Sports.
The Stoke striker went past the Belgian and looked certain to tap the ball into the empty net but Mignloet caught his leg which caused him to tumble down to the turf.

The referee only gave Mignolet a yellow card which was a surprise to many people as Diouf was denied a clear goalscoring opportunity.
Mignolet, however, defended his actions.
I had to bring him down really because otherwise it’s a goal and then it’s 1-1. They had a free-kick to score from but we defended that.
It is a reaction and a bit of instinct at that moment in time but that is what I thought I had to do. Luckily it paid off. I can’t say if I was the last man or not.
The resulting free-kick led to nothing and Liverpool were off the hook because of the huge risk of Mignolet.
The Reds went on to win 3-0 with substitute Mo Salah amongst the goals yet again with a quick brace.
