Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho has rejected talk about a switch to Barcelona, saying he is only focused about his ‘long contract’ with the Reds, according to The Liverpool Echo.
Coutinho, who turned 25 on Monday, was asked about his future while away on international duty with Brazil and said:
I have a contract with my club and it is long. So my focus is on the present and the national team. My focus is here.
Coutinho is set to captain his nation for the first time as they take on Australia on Tuesday. The Brazilian signed a five-year contract in January and hasn’t indicated he wants to move away from Anfield, with speculation in Spain linking him as one of Barcelona boss Ernesto Vaverde’s main transfer targets.
The playmaker shone last campaign scoring 11 goals and registering seven assists, thriving in the central midfield role towards the end of the season.
