Reds monitoring Lyon’s Aouar as Chelsea step up their interest

Liverpool are said to be keeping a close eye on Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, amid interest from Premier League rivals Chelsea.

French outlet RMC, as cited on the Metro, are suggesting that Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri has told the Blues to wrap up a deal for the player, but Liverpool have also been credited with an interest.

The Reds will be all too familiar with Lyon following their summer pursuit of Nabil Fekir, which ultimately ended in disappointment.

Aouar, who is valued at £30 million by Lyon, is believed to be the man Sarri wants to fill the number eight role in his midfield.

However, Lyon are refusing to sell in January, meaning a summer move is more likely but Barcelona also said to be admirers of the player.

The Reds will be hoping for more luck in the transfer market if they are to once again spend the summer chasing the signature of a Lyon player.
