Report claims Gini Wijnaldum has rejected contract offer from Liverpool

Gini Wijnaldum has rejected Liverpool’s latest contract offer, according to Todofijaches.

The 30-year-old’s current Reds deal expires at the end of the season and he has been mulling over his future currently.

Barcelona have been constantly linked with signing Wijnaldum, but extending his stay at Anfield certainly hasn’t been ruled out.

It is now claimed that the Dutchman has turned down Liverpool’s new offer, suggesting he will move on in the summer.

The contract isn’t thought to be satisfactory in Wijnaldum’s eyes and Barca could now be his next destination.

Should the rumour be true, it would be a bitter blow for Liverpool, with Wijnaldum such a great servant over the past four-and-a-half years.

He has been a model of consistency in midfield, doing the dirty work in unsung fashion and never making fewer than 40 appearances in a full season.

The hope is that Wijnaldum will end up signing a new deal at Liverpool, realising they are still the best option for him.

With Lionel Messi potentially leaving next summer and Barca not what they once were as a team, staying put makes sense.

That being said, it is hard to remain at a club if you feel they are underrating your level of importance.
