Reports of Liverpool being in talks with Luan rubbished

Despite a report from journalist Duncan Castles which claimed that Liverpool have entered discussions with Gremio for their forward Luan, the Liverpool Echo are reporting the Reds haven’t contacted the Brazilian side about the 24-year-old.

Luan scored eight goals in 12 games during the 2017 Copa Libertadores and as a result of his impressive performances, was named player of the tournament.

Despite Luan only signing a new deal with Gremio in November, strong links have been circling that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp was keen on bringing the player to Anfield and that he was willing to activate the player’s €18 million release clause.

Many European sides are thought to be monitoring the player’s situation, including European champions Real Madrid, with Luan impressing when facing the Spanish giants in the FIFA World Club Cup Final.

Fellow Premier League sides Arsenal and Leicester City have also been looking at the player, however, for now, it looks like Liverpool won’t be making a move for the forward.
