Andrew Robertson has been reflecting on the frustrating opening periods of his Liverpool career.
Speaking to BBC Sport’s Football Focus, the Scotland captain looked back to his first few months at Anfield following his move from Hull City back in the summer of 2017.
Robertson has established himself as a pivotal part of Jurgen Klopp’s plans at Liverpool ahead of what promises to be an exciting campaign. However, this was not always the case, with the defender having previously found it hard to break into the first-team picture on Merseyside.

It was only towards the end of the calendar year that an opportunity for regular game time presented itself to Robertson, following an injury sustained by starting full-back Alberto Moreno.
Nevertheless, Robertson grabbed the chance to impress with both hands and has since nailed down the starting spot at left-back for his side.
Reflecting on his challenging introduction to life at Liverpool, the defender told BBC Sport:
It was hard at the time as I was not used to not playing and it was something very new to me. I didn’t deal with it as well as I could. I did struggle, and I was probably not the best to live with in the house, but it is hard because you are putting on a brave face on the training ground thinking you need to work hard to get in the team, but when you come home and start thinking about it and getting annoyed and frustrated, it goes into your family life.
