Sadio Mane has been heaping the praise on his Liverpool teammate Virgil van Dijk in recent times.
The Senegal international appears to be returning to form ahead of the final stretch of the season and has been opening up on his team’s chances. He was also quizzed on new boy Van Dijk’s qualities, and didn’t hold back when waxing lyrical about the Dutchman.
As quoted by the Mirror, Mane spoke of how impressive the Netherlands international has been since his arrival at Anfield.
He’s a great player and I know him very well because he was my team-mate when I was at Southampton too. He is a very good addition for us and we are very happy to have him in the team. For sure, he will make a difference for us.
Mane played alongside Van Dijk at Southampton for one season in 2015/16 as the Saints clinched sixth place. The duo are now working their magic on Merseyside, though, and the defender is evidently settling in nicely.
Van Dijk joined the Reds for a world-record sum of £75 million in the January transfer window after Jurgen Klopp’s efforts to recruit him in the previous summer fell through.
He is yet to disappoint at Anfield, turning in some typically imposing displays and he has evidently impressed his teammates along the way.
He is strong and technical and clever in the games. He wins a lot of balls in the air and he reads the game very well too.
