Liverpool’s £90m winger opens up on ‘worst season of his career’

This season has been far from Liverpool’s best in their history.

The Reds went into the current campaign as Premier League champions but have failed to retain their title.

Yesterday saw Manchester City lift the title after second place Manchester United lost 2-1 to Leicester City.

It has been a tough year for the club who have had multiple setbacks with injuries and poor form.

One player that has looked a world away from his usual self is Sadio Mané.

The Senegalese winger sat down with Canal+ the other day, as cited by This is Anfield yesterday, describing this season as the ‘worst of his career’…

You have to feel for Mané with how difficult this season has been for him.

With just 14 goals in all competitions this season, Mané has struggled in front of goal compared to his usual numbers.

To hear that he even underwent tests to ensure nothing was wrong with himself shows a clear understanding of the issue.

Mané knows he has been far from his best.

The worst part of it all is that everything from his tests came back absolutely fine.

There is no definitive reason for why Mané has been below his usual standard this campaign.

That must surely be the most frustrating part for him – as there is no reason for this slump in form.

Sometimes it is easier to deal and handle with such things when there is an issue you can address.

However, for Mané, he is simply just having a bad season.

Hopefully, next season, we will see the best from Mané once again along with the rest of the squad.
