Salah substitute was made on a precautionary basis

Liverpool were left with a major injury concern this evening as Mohamed Salah hobbled off in the team’s 3-0 win over Manchester City.

The Reds were ruthless as a first-half masterclass helped them take a huge advantage into the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie with Pep Guardiola’s side.

Mohamed Salah opened the scoring before Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Sadio Mane further extended Liverpool’s advantage.

However, the Reds were dealt an injury worry in the second-half as Salah was forced to be withdrawn as a result of a groin injury. The Egyptian international went straight down the tunnel to receive treatment.

Salah has been in superb form for Liverpool this season, netting 38 goals in all competitions. However, it seems that Reds fans need not worry, with Egyptian reporter Tarek Talaat claiming that the former Roma man felt a minor pain in his groin, leading to a substitution based solely on precautionary grounds.

Liverpool will hope to have Salah available for the Merseyside Derby against Everton at the weekend, and also for the second leg against City next week.
