The 27-year-old is now eager to win the trophy for the second time in his career. He said:

I won the Champions League with Bayern Munich and that was an unbelievable feeling.

I dream about doing that with Liverpool and why not? It’s great memories, so why not a second time?

We have the quality to go very far and last year they got to the final. They didn’t win it but we will try to do the same again this year. There is a long way to go but we have to keep our performances good.

Shaqiri has found himself being deployed in an attacking midfield position in recent matches and he has thrived in the role.

With two midfielders sitting behind him, it allows him to express himself and gives him the freedom to roam around the pitch, which is when he is very dangerous.
