Southampton are not in the race to sign Danny Ings from Liverpool this summer, according to a report from the Southern Daily Echo.
Mark Hughes’ side have been heavily linked with a move for the out of favour striker in recent weeks but these claims have since been rubbished by the Daily Echo, who claim that the reports are ‘wide of the mark’.
Ings is believed to be keen on leaving Liverpool this summer after falling down the pecking order of strikers under manager Jurgen Klopp.

However, it seems at this stage no offers have come in for the striker, who has endured a torrid time in the last two seasons with long-term knee ligament injuries.
Klopp already has Roberto Firmino and Dominic Solanke at his disposal up top, while the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi also face uncertain futures on Merseyside.
Ings will, for now, have to sit and wait to see how the transfer window unfolds as he seeks pastures new.
