Daniel Sturridge is determined to play a part in Liverpool’s pursuit of silverware in the upcoming season.
As quoted by the Telegraph, the England international discussed the Reds’ bid to win a trophy as he continues to impress in the Reds’ pre-season preparations.
Sturridge spent the second half of last season on loan at West Brom but failed to influence proceedings, as he nursed a hamstring problem.
However, he has since been in inspired form for the Reds as they continue to gear up for the 2018/19 campaign. Sturridge has featured prominently in Liverpool’s friendly fixtures so far and has looked strong in front of goal.
It’s believed that Jurgen Klopp will look to keep hold of the experienced striker this summer as he looks to ensure that Liverpool are well-stocked with quality in depth following last season’s struggles with quality backup options.
Liverpool reached the Champions League final last term but fell short at the final hurdle, as Real Madrid defeated them convincingly in a 3-1 victory. Sturridge is hoping to ensure that if the Reds do progress to another cup final, they make their chances count this time around.
I just want to help the team win something. That’s what it’s about. We want to win something. We have been close before a lot of times.
I wasn’t here for last season’s Champions League but it was so close. So close. We want to win something.
