Trent Alexander-Arnold to miss four weeks with a knee injury

Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss four weeks with a knee injury, Paul Joyce has confirmed.

Alexander-Arnold suffered a problem during the warm-up against Brighton over the weekend but was able to play through the pain and feature from the start at the Amex.

Despite the problem in the warm-up, Alexander-Arnold would go on to complete a full 90 minutes, in what appeared to be a routine performance.

However, the player’s knee injury now appears to be much worse than first feared.

The news comes as a huge blow for Liverpool, having recently loaned Nathaniel Clyne to Bournemouth for the rest of the season.

Alexander-Arnold’s injury is likely to see James Milner revert to right-back, something he has done on more than one occasion in the past.

In what is a double blow for the Reds, Joyce adds that Georginio Wijnaldum is also a doubt for the game against Crystal Palace, with the Dutch midfielder suffering from a knee injury as well.
