United braced for injury crisis ahead of Liverpool clash

While the injuries are piling up at Anfield, Manchester United are also bracing themselves for an injury crisis ahead of Sunday’s meeting.

The London Evening Standard reports that Jose Mourinho’s men could be without as many as nine senior players for the game at Anfield.

Diogo Dalot and Scott McTominay both suffered injuries during a recent training session.

Victor Lindelof has been ruled out, while Alexis Sanchez is also a long-term absentee.

Luke Shaw, Anthony Martial and Matteo Darmain are all doubts for the game after missing the win over Fulham last weekend, in which Chris Smalling was taken off through injury.

Mourinho’s problems continued to mount when Marcos Rojo was taken off at half-time during Wednesday’s Champions League defeat to La Liga side Valencia.

Injuries look set to dominate the headlines, with Liverpool also enduring a spell of torrid luck in the treatment room.

Joe Gomez and Joel Matip have both suffered injuries that will keep them out until the year. Right-back duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and Nathaniel Clyne are also doubts for the game.
